Frank's Depression - 1990 Recorded by: Hoagie I met Frank at Suitsmi in Portland Maine. He sold me one of his hand Xeroxed poetry books. I recorded him in the Ghostwalks practice space using my Tascam 4-track. I later ran into him in San Francisco. Great guy with a brilliant sense of humor. Sound Quality:

Criminal Goat - 1990 Mark and I record our first project together on my Tascam 4-track. We name the band Rain Station. Bo Grumpus - 1991 Craig Ventresco & Pete Devine Recorded by: Hoagie on 4-track in Pete's Room I moved in with Craig and Pete in '91. They had a nifty place in San Francisco on the pan handle in the Haight. They are rather famous here in SF. They often play Ragtime on Haight street in front of the music store. Craig later recorded the guitar soundtrack to Terry Zwigoff's movie, Crumb. Sound Quality:

Unknown Rule - 1992 Brent Clifford Recorded by Brent on my Tascam 4-track. I moved back to Oakland in with Brent Clifford, son of Doug Clifford, the famous drummer for Credence Clearwater Revival. One weekend Brent borrowed my 4-track and recorded these strange tunes. My 4-track never worked again. Sound Quality:

Richard McGhee - 1993 Recorded by: Richard McGhee Star Vocalist I first met Richard performing at Cafe DuNord in the Castro. I asked him if I could do a documentary on him for public access TV. I recorded many of his shows on VHS. He also gave me many of his practice tapes that he recorded at his small Tenderloin apartment on a karaoke machine. This is my personal favorite. Sound Quality:

Edison Project - 1993 Richard McGhee Recorded by Mark Harvey at Nobody Records, Bay Area CA Mark and I wrote a bizarre musical based on Thomas Edison's life. Richard was to play Edison, but he died of cancer about 2 weeks before we started. This tape was Richard's practice tape so he could learn the part. Sound Quality:

3 Pigs Cafe - 1995 Elizabeth Downing, Michael Willis, Steve Berson Liz and Michael were also in Lambs Eat Ivy. They are now called Daily Grace. These bands are all from Baltimore Maryland. I used to hang out with Liz at Maryland Institute of Art. We'd make evil ceramic things together, and I always had a crush on her. She's an amazing talent. Hugo Largo - 1988 Mimi Goese, Adam Peacock, Hahn Rowe, Timothy Sommer Recorded by: Jay York I went to MICA with Elizabeth Downing of Lambs Eat Ivy who opened for Hugo Largo. When Hugo Largo played Portland Maine School of Art New Years '88, they let us record them. Jay had a great high end cassette recorder. This is a rare live performance of these legends of avant guard rock and roll. Sound Quality:

Bonney, Lou Moran, Recorded by: Hoagie on my grandpa's old reel to reel with a way-cool Deco style mic. This was my first recording of my first band after my folks bought me my first drum set. Recorded live outside on my mom's porch. We are all like, 14 years old in the 7th grade. A bunch of dorks. The Pilots are indeed terrible. I enjoy listening to us argue between takes.
