Hey it's Jay. I just discovered that I had collected bloopers, and funny footage onto a VHS way back in '93 that survived storage in my grandfather's basement. I transferred the video onto my Mac, and put together this edited version for a laugh. It's great to see the old footage again. The Anemic Butcher did not have a regular script. It had a flow chart, and the actors were to come up with natural dialog to get their character to the next step in the flow chart. I found that by letting them express themselves by creating their own dialog allowed folk with little acting experience a more natural flow. I find that writing dialog never seems to come off feeling real. I don't like it when I hear one voice coming through all the characters. I gave direction, but not dialog. A lot of stuff was created by the actor this way. With so many creative minds at work all at once, the collaborative effort created many elements that were never conceived until the cameras were rolling. Many of the takes were hilarious, or at least strange. Most of the original video tapes were damaged in grandpa's basement, so this tape of bloopers is all that is left of many of the original shoots.

Making this movie was more about the collaboration, camaraderie, and the overcoming of obstacles. It seems that nothing ever got in our way. We never had permission to shoot in any of the locations we shot in. The idea was, even if we get kicked out, we should have enough footage by then to complete the project. The cast and crew were edgy, fun, loud, and boisterous. The movie really didn't add up to much, but the time together as friends was what it was all about. These bloopers show off how much weird fun we all were having, and how much we tortured one another in the name of "art".

Anemic Butcher Bloopers was shot in 1992 - 1993 on VHS camera. Digital transfer 2009.
